FAQs

How do I get a tattoo appointment with you?

Join my newsletter/mailing list and keep an eye out on instagram. You’ll receive an announcement with my custom/flash booking request links and periodically receive info about flash events. My books are always “open” to my mailing list subscribers and existing clients but otherwise will remain CLOSED until the next booking period. I book in 1-2 month cycles. Keep an eye on my Instagram stories! Spontaneous availability (cancellations, reschedules, additional days) will be posted there and filled via Instagram DM or direct booking link via Square.

What do you mean by booking request?

My booking forms are available to all members of my mailing list. If you would like to work with me, you’ll be asked for some basic information (name, pronouns, appointment type you’re interested in, size [in inches], placement on the body, etc). I review requests as frequently as I can and accept as many as I can accommodate. Submitting a booking request does not guarantee you a spot, and response times can be longer when I have less availability on my calendar. Thank you for your patience and continued interest in my work.

How do I book if I will be traveling?

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, I am asking those who are traveling to please take a rapid test out of courtesy before attending your appointment. Masks are optional in the studio but I will most likely be wearing one regardless to prevent illness transmission. It poses a high risk of health/safety to myself, my fellow tattooers, and our other clients, so please if you feel sick DO NOT come into the studio. Thank you for understanding!

What is ‘flash’?

‘Flash’ refers to repeatable pre-drawn designs prepared by an artist in advance for clients to choose from. My flash reflects the themes I am most interested in and the imagery that I love to tattoo! For the most part, flash designs are set sizes and set prices. These designs can also be offered in black and grey, or full color, though choosing either fill option does not change the price. However, it is always better to request minor adjustments in advance of your appointment (color changes, small tweaks). New flash designs will be sent out to the folks on the mailing list periodically, they will also be posted on my instagram, and I will try to keep things updated here on my website as well. You also have the option to choose from a physical flash book on the day of your appointment where there are some designs I have not posted online.

Can I get a design you’ve tattooed already?

All of my flash designs are my original art and are available to be tattooed repeatedly. Although, I will typically tattoo a design anywhere from 2-3 times before removing it from my flash book. Regardless of repetition, your tattoo and experience will be unique to you. If it is important to you to have a totally unique design, consider booking a custom appointment. Custom designs are not repeated.

How can I get a custom tattoo?

I am open to collaborating with clients when projects are within my wheelhouse, expectations are flexible, and concepts are clear. Clients who are interested in working together on a custom design should be familiar with my work, interested in my personal style, and trust my execution. Custom appointments are subject to additional drawing costs on top of my hourly tattooing rate depending on complexity of the design.

How much will it cost?

Tattoos are priced by complexity of the design or set flash prices announced (sliding scale available for BIPOC). See my general info page for more details. I have a $250 minimum for flash and a $300 minimum for customs. Tattoos will reflect my regular rate unless you have opted in to sliding scale or there is a set price for the flash piece. You will be able to opt-in to the sliding scale if you inquire on your booking form. If you identify as BIPOC and opt in to a sliding scale appointment, you will be able to choose a budget or rate. I can work with either.

How does tipping work?

Tipping is greatly appreciated in all service oriented industries, tattooing included. 10-20% of total service cost is the industry standard. I love non-monetary tips as well such as artwork, flowers, plants, crafts, snacks, coffee, trinkets, etc. If you would like to tip and have a sliding scale appointment, please choose a total budget that allows you to comfortably do so. Tips are by no means required and should only be given if it is within your ability!

Do I need to do anything prior to my appointment?

Please regularly moisturize the area we’ll be tattooing in the week leading up to your appointment. Please arrive at the studio well rested, hydrated, and having eaten prior to your appointment. Wearing a mask is optional in the studio, although I will most likely be wearing one regardless. Plan to be in the studio for your entire appointment time. It helps to have a clear and flexible day as you cannot rush the process. Do not drink alcohol prior to being tattooed, use numbing cream (unless approved), or take Aspirin. Do not plan on swimming, or soaking until the tattoo is fully healed. Please refrain from exercising for at least three days after being tattooed. Be sure to follow all aftercare suggestions.

How does my deposit work?

When your booking request is accepted, you’ll be asked to make a $100 deposit toward the final cost of your tattoo via the booking link I will have sent you. Deposits are non-refundable and will be applied to the final cost of your tattoo on the day of your appointment. Appointments can be rescheduled with 72hrs advanced notice. Rescheduling with less notice may forfeit your deposit. No-shows will not be rescheduled or booked again in the future (you will essentially be black listed). Cancellations can be made at any time, though you forfeit your deposit.

Can I take your design to another artist?

I understand that it can be hard to get an appointment, and that for some the cost of travel can be prohibitive, however I ask that you do not take my design to another artist to be tattooed. I do not offer tattoo vouchers, nor am I able to accept commissions for custom tattoos done by other artists. I apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment. Thank you for respecting this boundary!

How do touch-ups work?

Once your tattoo is fully healed and settled (~2 months), you can send in a contact form or email me at queertooer@gmail.com to inquire about a touch-up. If you are unsure if your tattoo needs a follow-up appointment, feel free to send in a well-lit photo with any questions. Touch-ups are free, tips are appreciated.

Do you accept walk-ins?

No, I do not accept walk-ins unless I have specifically announced a flash walk-in day. No Good Tattoo is by appointment only. Follow me on instagram or sign up for my newsletter to find out when I have walk-in availability.

When can I see my custom design?

If our appointment is scheduled & I have received your deposit the design will be shown to you when you arrive for your appointment. We will go over options and make any final adjustments during this time so we can collaborate on a great idea together! I do not send out designs prior to your appointment, and I do not draw up custom designs without a deposit/payment.

Are there any tattoos you absolutely won’t do?

Other people’s artwork, this is not up for debate. Anything deemed discriminatory towards minorities, hateful, or bigoted imagery. I will not under any circumstances tattoo anyone under 18, even with parental consent. If I do not accept your request, I will do my best to refer you to another artist who could do a better job with your particular idea, sometimes another personal style may be better suited to your specific creative needs.

Do you touch up tattoos done by other artists?

Rarely, but on occasion I will touch up another artist's work if it is feasible and similar to my style. It must be a part of your appointment you've booked to get something else with me. I highly suggest reaching out to the original artist if your tattoo has had fall out - oftentimes they will touch it up for free & it minimizes risks of a different technique or ink being used. It also allows artists to learn about their technique & improve it.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes I do! Would you like to offer your loved one a tattoo gift? I got you! I can draw up a custom template for a digital gift card (for printed media you must handle that yourself). I can take payment in person at the shop, via invoice through square, or cashapp & venmo.
